In arch., an ornamentcomposed of two ogee curves meeting in themiddle, each concave toward its outer extrem-ity and convex toward the point at which itmeets the other. Such accolades are either plain oradorned with rich moldings, and are a frequent motiveof decoration on the lintels of doors and windows of thefifteenth and sixteenth centuries, especially in seculararchitecture. Viollet-le-Duc. 4. In Roman and early monastic MSS., thecurved stroke made by the copyist around afinal word written below the line to which itbelonged, in order to avoid carrj-ing it on tothe ne.xt. accolated (ako-la-ted), j;. a.
