- Du moyen anglais pouche, poche, emprunté à l’ancien français pouche (Nord), poche, puche (qui a donné le français poche, comparer avec l’anglo-normand poke). D’origine germanique : du vieux-francique *pokō, *poka (comparer au moyen néerlandais poke, au vieil anglais pohha, à l’allemand dialectal Pfoch). Comparer avec l’anglais pocket, poke.
